The New 2009 Hybrid Escalade is Cool

The Escalade Hybrid is the best way for environmentally conscious customers to get their luxury SUV with out sacrificing quality. Maximum seating capacity in the Hybrid is 8. It is also the only full-size luxury SUV hybrid on the market. The Escalade Hybrid recieves about 50% better fuel economy, in city driving, than other conventional models and gets 40% increase in fuel economy overall.

The 2 mode hybrid powertrain integrates the brand’s Vortec 6.0 liter V-8 engine with Cadillac’s new Auto Trans. There are four driving gears within the EVT transmission which is helped by two electric motors.Due to GM’s Active Fuel Management System in the V8, four cylinders shut down in light load conditions to conserve fuel.The gasoline engine shuts off at stops or when idoling but restarts when needed, while the electric motor allows the engine to run in a 4 cylider mode more often.

With light throttle, the electric motors can propel the New Cadillac Escalade up to 30 mph, but together the electric motor and gasoline engine produce 332 hp and 367lb.ft. of torque.The electric motors, electric steering system, and the electric air conditioning compresser are all powered by a 300 volt battery pack located under the second row seats. Regenerative braking will charge the batteries. The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is available in a 2 or 4 wheel drive option.Although it would be awesome to have the hybrid powertrain in all trims of the Escalade, it only comes available in the standard length.

As far as towing capability, the new Cadillac Escalade will be rated to tow up to 6000 pounds with rear wheel drive and 5700 pounds with all wheel drive.The Hybrid has an 8 inch touch screen with a hybrid drive system which informs the driver what mode the SUV is driving in. The Hybrid comes with an economy guage, which has green and red bars to represent which zones drivers should drive in to get the best mpg.  The tachometer in the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid includes an Auto Stop reading that indicates when the gasoline engine is shut off.
