I want to get into Formula One Racing now that i am in late high school and im starting to look for my calling in life. I would really love to do Formula One. In particular it would be my dream to work as a mechanical engineer for the Ferrari team, or any other team in general. How do i accomplish this. What do i need to start doing, are there any special schools. So on and so on thanks for the help.

Write to a few of the teams telling them a bit about yourself and what you would like to do.
if you are in England you might choose a university that has some links in f1. Good luck!
There are schools around which teach people how to become auto-mechanics, as in your normal car mechanic, but I don’t know if there would be very many (if any) which would train people specifically for racing teams.
My guess is to look at the sponsors on different types of auto racing (especially the types you would like to be involved with) to see which ones are operating locally and contact some of them.
it’s not easy but it’s possibe you should got your self a degree in mechanical engineering or other F1 related disciplines then you should find your self a job in the lesser racing series teams and work your way up. it a long process and you should know that F1 is a place for the best of the best wich mean you shoulb be very dedicated and a hard worker . one last thing if you had a chance to woirk in any F1 team don’t say no to any team because it’s a door that can open hundred of others so and by shutting it you may lose your life dream

Juan Pablo Montoya was a FormulaOne driver, you can make a career in the IndyRacing and to go to FormulaOne later… but you would need a agent that have contact with FormulaOne teams…
Work on getting an engineering degree and study computers. Move to Europe, find out where all the race teams are located, get a job in a lower division like F3 or something and try to work your way up.
Sorry to say this, but its true.
All F1 drivers have been very sucsessful national, and international karters and start very young (7 years old.)
Lewis hamilton started at 7 and he won the british JICA class manytimes and done international karting. Around 14years of karting i would say, 3 years of Formula renualt/ford/BMW, Forumla 3 for a couple, GP2 for a couple,
and even then you are extremley lucky if you get sponsorship in karting or make a big impression.
If you started young you might have managed. Sorry its life training you cant just say “i want to be an F1 driver now when i leave school.”
Teams go for young drivers, no older than 25 i would say.
Your best bet might be getting into a lower sport first. Start with auto-x, get some sponsors, then go up the levels, hit driving school, THEN apply with racing teams.
There is a great book by Steve Matchet. He was a mechanic for the Benneton Formula 1 team during the time that Michael Schumacher won 2 world championships. He outlines his entire career as a mechanic and how he went about attracting the attention of the top teams. He currently works for SPEED TV here in the U.S. You might try sending an e-mail to SPEED to see if he might offer some advise. It might help if you read his book first. Good Luck!
