Lots of the new luxury touring motorbikes now have motorbike speakers built in.  Many models like the Honda Goldwing and the BMW K 1200 LT have speakers in the front and the back in order to provide top quality sound to both the driver and passenger.  These bikes are especially well suited to speakers since they have large screens which give protection from the wind and noise.  Without these screens the sound would likely be completely lost in the sounds made by the the wind and motor.  Motorcycle speakers won’t give you the same level of performance on bikes which have less wind protection or loud exhaust systems.

One of the largest advantages to having speakers on your bike is the amenity of not being made to set up wires every time you head out for a ride.  You also don’t have to fret about a cable attached to your helmet every time you take it one and off as you would with a helmet audio system.

The drawback to using motorcycle speakers is that they can be really difficult to hear unless you have good wind protection on your bike.  You’ll also need to consider the type of helmet that you typically wear.  A quiet helmet will block out the sound of your speakers in addition to obstructing out the sound of the wind and engine.  If your bicycle does not have good wind protection or you have got a helmet that blocks out a lot of the noise you may wish to think about employing helmet speakers instead.

Motorcycle speakers would possibly not be a sensible solution for everyone.  Take some time to look around at the various different configurations available and work out what would work best for your particular wants.  Besides the amenity of using motorbike speakers many of us like the look that they give to their bike.
